Downtown Business Profile
By Roane Beard
Ask an architect to design a house, and he’ll draw you a blueprint. But not by hand. The technological tools that go into putting that blueprint together are as sophisticated as those used in the construction of the building itself, and there’s not an architect around who doesn’t rely on his printing equipment.
That’s where Digital Now comes in. The printing hardware and service company recently relocated to the downtown area to be in a better position to serve their customers.
“There are a lot of engineers, architects,
designers and other professionals in the downtown area,” says Michael Miller,
owner and president of Digital Now. “Those are the groups that make up most of
our clients, because they have a frequent need for reliable, high-quality
printing and graphic equipment. I wanted my office to be convenient to theirs,
so we established our office downtown. I also think that it’s important to be
part of the community where you do business, and setting up shop here puts us
right in the center of things.”
Digital Now is the area’s authorized Océ dealer and service representative, and sells more than 100 kinds of Océ copiers, printers, scanners, plotters and workstations. The Océ line is supplemented with products from Hewlitt-Packard, and the company services client’s machines with technicians certified by both companies.
“I want to do things the right way,” says Michael, who began his career as a technician. “We want to sell you the machines that are right for you, and make sure they do the job they’re supposed to do. We’re in this for the long haul. And that’s for any company, not just architects or engineering firms. We really offer solutions to anyone who needs quality hardware that they can depend on. Essentially, we help people who do anything in design and printing, because what we’ve got can fit the needs of anybody who does any kind of professional grade drawing. We also sell tools for scanning and archiving material.”
Michael founded the company 23 years ago in Memphis. Since then, Digital Now has grown to service 7 states in the southeast, including Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Michael opened the Pensacola office last January on Davis Highway to serve as his new company headquarters, because he knew that he would need to establish a base in the area after he was offered a chance to take over Océ’s service area in the region. He loved the challenge, and he loved the area, so moving to Pensacola was an obvious choice.
“They don’t need me in Memphis anymore,” Michael says. “The office there can run itself. But now I have a chance to take on a new challenge here, and become part of this community. It’s exciting. I love what I do, and I love my customers. Because they’re professionals, and professionals are a pleasure to work with.”
Digital Now is located on 25 West Romana Street, between Baylen and Palafox. Take a look at their website at www.digital-now.net, or give them a call at 434-2525.
